London Irish are closing in on the signing of New Zealand fly-half Chris Noakes.

Reports on getreading say London Irish have opted for Noakes and he could replace Ian Humphreys who is rumoured to be heading back to Ulster next term.

Noakes would compete for the fly-half berth with Shane Geraghty and would bring a wealth of southern hemisphere experience to the position having played for the Highlanders and the Blues in recent seasons. He is currently out injured after undergoing surgery on his back.
