Sale are understood to be interested in securing the services of Italy prop Alberto de Marchi.
De Marchi had been linked with a move to Toulon as an injury joker for Andrew Sheridan. Martin Castrogiovanni revealed the news to journalists in the lead up to Italy's match against Scotland but ESPN understands that deal has now fallen through.
And Sale, who are looking to bolster their options in the front-row, have been speaking to De Marchi and are keen to secure a deal for the loose-head who has played 15 times for Italy.
