NFL Africa Zone: The 'Split Decision' Edition

The second week of the NFL season brought us high scoring offenses (Hi Patrick Mahomes!), more ties (Oh Green Bay...) and some impressive performances by Africa's players.

Pederson: We drafted Wentz 'to be our guy' (0:54)

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

Eagles WR Mike Wallace has a fractured fibula, Doug Pederson said. Has not been placed on IR at this point, but a significant injury.

Wentz cleared, will start Week 3 for Eagles (0:41)
Ertz says not to expect Wentz to be 'Superman' (0:41)

Eagles TE Zach Ertz on Carson Wentz: "I can't wait to get him back, whenever that is. But at the same time, we can't expect him to be Superman, either. This is going to be his first NFL game in nine months, first live bullets in nine months. We've got a lot of talent on the offense where he shouldn't have to feel like he's got to come in and solve all our problems."

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

Eagles T Jason Peters on Carson Wentz's pending return: "Excited. I know the guy is going to get out there and try to make plays for us...He's the franchise quarterback. I'm happy for him to be even be back."

Fitzpatrick shines again, Buccaneers stun Eagles 27-21

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns for the second straight week, leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 27-21 victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

The Eagles have some issues to deal with coming out of their 27-21 loss to the Bucs. Key players (Jason Peters, Mike Wallace) got banged up and there was a lack of discipline and execution on both sides of the ball. But the winds are about to shift. Carson Wentz is expected to make his return next week, which will likely invigorate this team and keep the sting of this loss from lingering.

Agholor's TD puts Philadelphia within one score (0:17)

Tim McManus ESPN Staff Writer

Blown assignments, poor execution and surprisingly conservative play-calling from coach Doug Pederson hurt the Eagles in the first half. A normally stingy Eagles D yielded two TD passes of 75 yards, and the Nick Foles-led offense hasn't been able to keep up. Much to fix to erase Tampa's 20-7 lead.

The Eagles have been hit with a rash of injuries in the first half. WR Mike Wallace (ankle) has been ruled out. RB Jay Ajayi (back) and LT Jason Peters (quad) currently sidelined as well.

Eagles running back Jay Ajayi is questionable to return with a back injury.

DeSean Jackson is 4-1 versus the Eagles, his former squad, averaging four catches for 88 yards per game. Starts this one with a 75-yard TD.

The on-field temp at Raymond James Stadium is about 100 degrees. Eagles coach Doug Pederson had the heat on his mind this week. "The only thing really is just continue to educate our players and talk to them every day about hydration. It can't start on Friday or Saturday. It has to start earlier in the week."

David Purdum ESPN Staff Writer

The Philadelphia Eagles were 7-point favorites over the Indianapolis Colts in early Week 3 lines posted last week by the Westgate SuperBook. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz still needs medical clearance but is on track to play against the Colts.

Wentz on track for Week 3 start (0:52)

Eagles inactives for Sunday's game at Tampa: A.Jeffery, J.Maialata, M.Pryor, D.Sproles, J.Sweat, C.Warmack, C.Wentz ‬. Sproles injured his hamstring on Wednesday. Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood could have larger roles in Sproles' absence.
