Sean McVay said Wednesday that WR Cooper Kupp would be out Sunday against the 49ers. Earlier in the week McVay strongly suggested that would be the case, but now he's confirmed it. Josh Reynolds will move into a starting role in Kupp's absence.

Sean McVay's quest for playcalling perfection

The Rams have the NFL's top overall offense, top rusher and fourth-best passer, but Sean "Negative Nelly" McVay still isn't satisfied.

The Rams cut K Cairo Santos on Tuesday, a day after Sean McVay said there was a chance that Greg Zuerlein could return from a groin injury that has sidelined him since Week 2. Santos made 3-of-4 field goal attempts Sunday in a 23-20 win over the Broncos. The Rams also signed WR Nick Williams to provide depth in a position group that is down to 4 healthy players - Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Josh Reynolds and KhaDarel Hodge. Williams was on the Redskins' roster in 2013, when McVay served as tight ends coach. Williams has 28 receptions for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns dating to 2013.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke released the following statement on the passing of Paul Allen: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Paul Allen. He was a visionary whose generosity and technological advances will continue to have an impact around the world. Paul was a great partner across the NFL, NBA and MLS, and his thoughtfulness and conviction served as a guiding force to better these leagues and sports. On behalf of my family and our entire organization, our thoughts are with Paul's family, as well as the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, and Portland Trailblazers organizations.”

Still undefeated after a big win in Denver

Rams Head Coach Sean McVay is joined by JB Long & D'Marco Farr after the team ran their season record to 6 - 0 after grinding out a tough win in Denver against the Broncos. They also look ahead to Week 7 as the Rams head up to San Francisco to take on the 49ers.

Sean McVay said Monday there was "a chance" that K Greg Zuerlein could return this week from a groin injury suffered before a Week 2 win over the Cardinals. Cairo Santos was 3-4 Sunday in a 23-20 win over the Broncos. He made kicks from 26 and 39 yards before missing a 47 yard attempt. He came back to kick a 21-yard field goal with 5:39 remaining.

Sean McVay gave a few injury updates Monday: WR Cooper Kupp is week-to-week with a knee sprain and will probably be out Sunday against the 49ers. LG Rodger Saffold has a knee sprain, OLB Matt Longacre suffered back spasms, and DE Michael Brockers has an AC sprain, but all are expected to play Sunday.

Rams' Kupp (knee sprain) could miss 49ers game

Rams receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a knee sprain Sunday and will "probably" miss this week's game against the 49ers, coach Sean McVay said Monday.

Sean McVay said that left guard Rodger Saffold suffered a knee injury during the game Sunday and that outside linebacker Matt Longacre was experiencing back spasms. McVay did not provide any further information.

Rams WR Cooper Kupp was carted off the field because of a knee injury in the first half, but returned to start the second. He gave it a go for a series, but the training staff determined it was best he sit out the rest of the game. Kupp said after the game that he would get further testing on his knee to determine the extent of his injury.

Clark: Gurley is the difference for Rams offense (1:22)

Lindsey Thiry ESPN

The Rams held off a late push from the Broncos and improved to 6-0 with a 23-20 victory Sunday inside a frigid Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Todd Gurley set a new career high in rushing yards with 208. While the defense showed improvement in stopping the run, vulnerabilities appeared at cornerback as Aqib Talib remains on injured reserve.

The Rams remain undefeated (6-0), beating the Broncos 23-20. A late TD covers the 7-point spread for Denver. Game goes under total of 50.5.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Todd Gurley II has reached the 20-PPR-point plateau for the day, giving him at least that many in each of his six games. He joins DeMarco Murray (2014) and Saquon Barkley (2018) as the only RBs since at least 1950 to score 20-plus in each of their teams' first six games.

Rams WR Cooper Kupp was carted off the field in the first half with a knee injury, but returned to the field and started the second half.

The snow has stopped but the Rams continue to deal with below-freezing temperatures in Denver, as they lead the Broncos 13-3 at halftime. The Broncos have struggled to slow Todd Gurley, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown in 9 carries and caught 2 passes for 17 yards in the first half. The Rams' run defense looks improved from its lackluster performance a week ago and has held the Broncos to 42-yards rushing.

Rams' Kupp carted off (knee) but returns to play

Cooper Kupp lay on the Denver sideline before being taken away on a cart after the Rams wideout injured his knee taking a big hit from Broncos safety Darian Stewart, but returned to the game in the second half.

Lindsey Thiry ESPN

Rams receiver Cooper Kupp took a handoff 12 yards before he was taken down by the horse-collar by safety Darian Stewart. Kupp appeared to injure his left leg and was taken off the field on a cart.

Lindsey Thiry ESPN

Rams OLB Matt Longacre is questionable to return because of a back injury. Rams are already painfully thin at the position, with Dominique Easley already on the IR because of a knee injury.
