ESPN Radio NFL Nation Takeover

ESPN NFL Nation Rams Reporter Alden Gonzalez joined Jeff Dickerson & Jonathan Hood explained that the Rams have a Super-Bowl-or-bust mentality.

The number of 1pm ET (or earlier) games for west coast teams is a frequently a concern. This season, the Rams have 2, 49ers and Seahawks have 3, the Chargers have 4, and the Raiders have 5. As for Mountain time zone teams, the Cardinals and Broncos each have 4.

Another way the league evened out the schedule pain is back-to-back-to-back road games (3 consecutive). In 2017 there were 12. This season there are 6. (This includes neutral site venues as road games.) Of the 6 three-game road sequences, two teams own 2 of them if you consider neutral site (London/Mexico City) games as road games: Rams and Chargers. The Ravens and Saints own the other two. The Rams second 3-game road sequence includes their Mexico City game, but it's interrupted by their bye. The Chargers actually have an *uninterrupted 4-game road sequence*, counting their London game, which (strictly speaking) includes two 3-game road sequences.

Rams RB Todd Gurley teamed up with the organization M.A.D.E to host a free camp for about 500 kids at his high school in Tarboro, North Carolina, last Saturday, which is very cool. "It was a great time," Gurley said Monday. (photo credit: DioBurto Photography)

Some roster moves by the Rams today: signed offensive tackles Cornelius Lucas and Darrell Williams, and officially signed three exclusive rights free agents — CB Troy Hill, RB Malcolm Brown and K Sam Ficken. OLB Matt Longacre signed his restricted free agent tender.

Rams coach Sean McVay said the plan with Tavon Austin is to "develop him as a receiver, where we're playing him in the slot, we're playing him outside." Obviously, opportunities will be scarce. McVay is happy for the possibility of a healthy offseason program/training camp for Austin.

Michael Brockers, on what he likes about Ndamukong Suh: "His tenacity. I don't want to say ‘nasty,' I don't want to put that out there, but he's a ferocious player, man. He plays like that every snap of the ball, and I think that's what I like about him the most is his attitude about the game. Defensive linemen, we're not supposed to be nice."

Rams DL Michael Brockers revealed during his presser today that he tore his MCL in the playoff loss to the Falcons, which saw him sit out the second half. Brockers took part in team activities today, but they're not in pads until training camp.

Robert Woods, on the new-look Rams: "I feel like we look good on paper, but we've got to look good on the field."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams WR Robert Woods ran a state track meet against Brandin Cooks in high school (Woods in LA, Cooks in Stockton up north). He's followed Cooks' career ever since. "Great receiver, great talent to add to this receiving room. I look forward to working with him."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Jared Goff: "I really feel like this is truly my first real offseason. Last year was an offseason, but there was so much transition going with the new staff and trying to learn the offense, not as much mastering it. This year, it's to try and master and continue to become an extension of the coaching staff."

Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

Rams QB Jared Goff only booked one trip this offseason, and it was for the Masters. "I don't think you can really explain it unless you go, and it was a really, really cool experience."

Here's a look at the T-shirts the Rams are sporting in the offseason program. "We Not Me" has evolved.

Rams RB Todd Gurley was told he's in the same situation Aaron Donald was in last year and was asked if he'd like to start contract negotiations. He smiled wide. "I think anyone would love to talk about contract situations."
