Defensive end Myles Garrett (12.5 sacks) and cornerback Denzel Ward (three interceptions, 11 passes defensed) were named to the Pro Bowl, both for the first time. The Browns also had six alternates: guards Joel Bitonio (first) and Kevin Zeitler (fourth), running back Nick Chubb (second), punter Britton Colquitt (second), wide receiver Jarvis Landry (third) and quarterback Baker Mayfield (fourth).

Safety Jabrill Peppers said he has no ill will toward former Browns coach Hue Jackson, who rankled some with the Browns by joining the Bengals before the season ended"

There's been a fair amount of talk and speculation about the Browns retaining Gregg Williams as coach. It's justified; Williams has built a strong case for himself. However, GM John Dorsey has made it clear with his past statements that he will search for the best candidate, and the Browns also must comply with Rooney Rule requirements about interviewing minority candidates. It's logic that the coaching search will proceed after the season.

Entering Sunday's action, the Browns have a 1% chance to reach the playoffs, per FPI.

The Browns will be rooting for New England, Dallas and the Giants on Sunday. Even with Saturday's nail-biter of a 17-16 win over Denver, the Browns will be eliminated from playoff consideration if the Steelers, Colts and Titans all win. Pittsburgh plays New England, the Colts have Dallas and Tennessee plays the Giants. The Browns remain alive if Pittsburgh, Indianapolis or Tennessee lose. Cleveland Browns beat injury-plagued Broncos 17-16

Baker Mayfield capitalized on Denver's depleted cornerback corps and dubious decisions in leading the Cleveland Browns past the Broncos 17-16 on Saturday night, keeping alive their slim hopes of ending the NFL's longest playoff drought.

Baker Mayfield didn't have his last four-game magic working in the first half in Denver. After an opening drive touchdown pass, Mayfield completed 5-of-15 and threw a late half interception and the Browns and Broncos went to halftime tied at 10.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

The game is tied and Baker Mayfield has started 4-for-13. He's 2-for-10 since his touchdown pass on the Browns first possession. The game tying field goal was a result of several holding penalties on the Broncos defense.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

Baker Mayfield's touchdown pass was his 20th of the season; he's the first Browns player with 20 in a season since Derek Anderson in 2007, per ESPN Stats and Information.

This game could not have started better for the Browns. The defense forced a punt after negative plays meant Denver lost 13 on three plays, then the offense followed with a a strong throw by Baker Mayfield and stronger catch by Breshad Perriman for 31-yard TD on third down. Denver had three plays and punted, the Browns four and a touchdown.
