Browns' Jackson won't decide on Mayfield ... yet

Hue Jackson said on a conference call that he will wait until Monday to announce who starts at quarterback for the Browns in Oakland. Jackson gave the players the weekend off and won't see the players until Monday morning; he doesn't want to announce the starter until he talks to the players. Jackson did say this: "You guys all feel good about where things are headed."

Browns benefiting from 'Bakermania' after win

The Browns are basking in "Bakermania" after rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield helped end the team's winless streak and cause surges in ticket and jersey sales.

ESPN Stats and Information shows that the Jets blitzed Tyrod Taylor on two-of-three dropbacks, and he was pressured on half his dropbacks (it seemed like more). The blitz number dropped to 45.8 percent with Baker Mayfield playing, and the pressures to 20.8 percent. Amazing what happens when a guy reads and throws quickly.

One item of concern: The concussion that sidelined quarterback Tyrod Taylor was his third in 13 months.. Taylor left the Buffalo Bills playoff game in January against Jacksonville with a concussion. He had another in a preseason game against Baltimore. When he came back after preseason to start the opener, Taylor told the media in Buffalo he had “one other documented concussion, in 2013.”

I'm not prone to exaggerating, but I don't think there's any underselling the way Baker Mayfield played Thursday night. He ran the offense, he was precise in his accuracy, he made players better, he brought excitement and energy, and he showed chutzpah. If this is for real and he sustains it – and it will get harder -- the entire Browns narrative changes.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Following their loss to the Browns Thursday, the Jets dropped two spots to 30th in FPI's rankings -- only ahead of the Bills and Cardinals. Cleveland moved up two spots to 24th.

Browns' win unlocks free beer across Ohio bars

The Cleveland Browns' long-awaited win against the New York Jets unlocked fridges of free beer in at least 10 Ohio bars Thursday night, allowing fans there to celebrate a little extra.

Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer

Cheers can be heard from the Browns locker room and tunnels around the stadium as Hue Jackson addresses the media. "Baker played great and he won the game, and that's what really matters," Jackson said, adding it felt like things were moving quicker once Mayfield took over. Of the win Jackson said it "feels great," that he had grown tired of all the jokes the past 634 days.
