Matt Nagy admits that with Roquan Smith missing the Bourbonnais portion of training camp that will limit whatever he would be able to do in Week 1. Nagy still optimistic deal will get done but frustration still hovering that Smith isn't in camp.

Allen Robinson is optimistic he will be able to play on Saturday in Denver. Bears coach Matt Nagy seems very pleased with what Robinson has done in camp.

Aside from a Kyle Fuller pick-six that came after Bengals receiver John Ross slipped, there wasn't much to write about in this one from the Bears. The first-team offense looked out of sorts as Mitch Trubisky -- 2-for-4 for four yards -- was sacked once in two series of work. Aside from Fuller's highlight, the defense struggled to make much noise as the Bengals moved up and down the field with relative ease early in the game. New coach Matt Nagy has plenty of things to show his players on tape as they head into next week's preseason contest in Denver.

Bears running back Jordan Howard didn't do much in practice today after banging knees with a teammate in practice a couple days ago. Nagy isn't concerned, but it is unclear if Howard will play on Thursday vs. Cincinnati.

Matt Nagy says there is no new update on Roquan Smith deal. On possibility that holdout could drag into season. "I have no idea." Noted that there's still a lot of time before regular season begins.

Mitch Trubisky is excited about the ability to run the ball more in Matt Nagy's new offense. "It's just another option for the defense to account for," Trubisky said after Monday's practice. "I think me running the ball will help our running backs and help our receivers get open and hopefully take some pressure off our O-line. Sometimes things break down and the defense gets a good blitz but hopefully we'll be able to overcome that if I can scramble and make a play. So you might have the perfect call on defense, but if I can scramble and make something happen that's just another great option for our offense. We'll have some designed stuff that will hopefully open up all the other playmakers down the road to make the run game even better for the running backs and the pass game even more wide open."
