The 10 Vegas over/unders that defined the NBA season

The Bucks flew past their projected win total, while LeBron and the Lakers failed to meet expectations. Here are the 10 over/under results furthest from Vegas' preseason expectations.

Per @Hoyas247, Patrick Ewing was asked about how often he gets asked about Zion Williamson or Kevin Durant coming to the Knicks. Ewing, a former Knicks great and the Georgetown coach, says "all the time" and adds, "There's a secret that's going to come out in a couple of weeks, but I'm not going to say it yet...They'll see when it happens." If the secret is Ewing representing the Knicks at the Lottery, it's hard to think of many others who would be better suited to represents the Knicks on the Lottery dais than the Hall of Famer.

Pistons earn final playoff spot in East with win over Knicks

Luke Kennard scored 27 points, Reggie Jackson had 21 and Andre Drummond added 20 points and 18 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons locked up the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot with a 115-89 victory over the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

Unless they surrender a 35-point lead in the final 9 minutes, the Pistons will secure the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and will face the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs. Charlotte will finish ninth in the conference.

Some ‘We want Zion' chants early in the fourth quarter at Madison Square Garden as the Knicks trail the Pistons by 33. Barring a miraculous comeback, NYK will finish the year at 17-65, tied for the worst record in franchise history. They will pick no lower than 5th in the draft.

Detroit is holding New York to 39 percent shooting in the first half - including 3-for-13 from beyond the arc - and leads by 24. Barring a major collapse in the second half, the Pistons will secure a playoff berth and eliminate Charlotte from the playoffs.

With Blake Griffin out, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson have carried the Pistons. They've combined for 24 points on 10-for-15 shooting to help Detroit build a 19-point lead midway through the second quarter. A Detroit win cliches a playoff berth and keeps Charlotte out of the postseason.

There's a long way to go here in New York, but Detroit looks sharp early. They're up by 15 points just eight minutes into the game. A Detroit win clinches a playoff berth and keeps Charlotte out of the playoffs.

With Blake Griffin out, the Pistons are starting Thon Maker, Wayne Ellington, Bruce Brown, Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond against New York

Knicks veteran Lance Thomas on the season (2/2): "(Developing young players) was the goal for the coaching staff and those guys. I think that goal has been accomplished. If the record was better and maybe some of their minutes weren't where they wanted it to be, who knows what their development would have been like. So we had a clear vision of developing the young guys and I think we did a good job of that." Knicks (16-64) need one win to avoid setting the worst record in franchise history. Thomas, the longest-tenured Knick, has said that he sees this team as different from the losing teams of years' past because it hasn't fractured and has remained focused on developing a culture.

Knicks veteran Lance Thomas on the season (1/2): "I think we've done a good job of focusing on the growth of our young guys. That was always a goal of ours. I think that the coaching staff has done a great job of that. I think Mitch (Robinson) is playing at a super high level, Kevin (Knox) is playing at a high level. All our young guys are playing at a high level." Knicks (16-64) need one win to avoid setting the worst record in franchise history. Thomas, the longest-tenured Knick, has said that he sees this team as different from the losing teams of years' past because it hasn't fractured and has remained focused on developing a culture.

Mario Hezonja would like to re-sign with the Knicks in free agency this summer: “I'm ready to talk to (Knicks owner James) Dolan,” he said with a laugh on Sunday night. “If he gives me that call on July 1, we're done. But yeah, my second family is in this organization. (NYK president) Steve (Mills) was the guy that first called me when Phil Jackson was here. (Knicks GM) Scott Perry drafted me. Fiz came to LA to bring me here. Coach Smarty (Keith Smart), he's like my second father right here. So just wonderful relationships with everybody in the organization.”

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Mario Hezonja thought he'd play more at point forward when he signed with the Knicks as a free agent last summer. But he isn't upset about a lack of opportunity there. He said he's grateful to Fizdale and assistant Keith Smart for the chance to play there now. “We have a lot of young guys on this team. They had to develop,” Hezonja said Sunday. “So I wasn't going to step in anybody's lane or anything because there's a lot of great talent in this locker room. This team can benefit a lot from playing them right now.”

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

David Fizdale on what Mario Hezonja has shown as the Knicks' point guard over the last two games: “I think it shows you that he has some other things that he could to help the team - if this is something that he could do for us or for another team. You've got a guy now that (can) switch pick-and-rolls (on defense), take bigs on pick-and-rolls and really battle them because he's 6-8. For that position, a guy who's really physical and not afraid of contact, that's real valuable thing.” Fizdale also noted that Hezonja is a talented play maker in the open court who benefits from being able to see over the defense. His aggressive nature helps him create opportunities for teammates as a ball handler.
