Knicks allow 44 points in the first quarter and 132 overall in a loss in Orlando. New York has dropped five straight and is struggling on defense. Barring a significant roster change, the defense will probably be an issue all season. Mitchell Robinson, Frank Ntilikina and Damyean Dotson are the club's top defenders, but haven't played significant minutes of late. Robinson starts but has been in foul trouble and is inexperienced. Ntilikina is a great defender but is inconsistent on offense.

After the Thunder had run a few straight pick-and-rolls at Enes Kanter in the first half, Steven Adams walked up to Knicks coach David Fizdale and told him, "Sub him out. He doesn't know how to play defense. We're running pick and roll every time." Adams, who is very close friends with Kanter, explained his trash talk and reasoning.

The Knicks fall by 25 in Oklahoma City and have lost their last three games by an average of 22 points. As pointed out by MSG's Mike Breen, New York hasn't had a lead in the last 10 quarters.

The Knicks are getting crushed tonight in Oklahoma City. They trail by 24 and have allowed the Thunder to hit 53 percent of its shots. Some of their lineups seemed to have next to no cohesion on defense, particularly on weak-side rotations. New York has lost the previous two games by an average of 20 points and will beat that average in this loss.

Steven Adams is having his way with Knicks rookie big man Mitchell Robinson in the first half tonight. Robinson, understandably, doesn't have the strength to slow down Adams. The 19-year-old is also dealing with an ankle issue.

Mitchell Robinson has returned to the game after a brief time being checked by trainers.

Mitchell Robinson is pretty hobbled and is immediately coming out of the game. It appeared to be an ankle roll after jumping for a rebound.

Rough defensive first quarter for the Knicks. David Fizdale's club struggled defending the pick and roll. Weak-side rotations seemed to be an issue on some possessions. Thunder big man Steven Adams had 10 points in the opening 12 minutes.

Russell Westbrook is officially out tonight against the Knicks. He went through his full pregame routine and is getting close to returning but isn't quite yet in a position to return.

No Clyde Frazier on the MSG Networks broadcast for Knicks-Thunder tonight. He's taking a few nights off over the next two months, per the network. Wally Szczerbiak will replace Clyde in Oklahoma City and 3-time WNBA champ Swin Cash will be in the studio in place of Szczerbiak

Sixers GM Elton Brand says the team will be looking for shooting going forward and he will continue to evaluate the market. He says the Sixers have gotten tons of calls. Seems like Philadelphia could be a landing spot for Knicks veteran Courtney Lee.

The Knicks wanted to play fast coming into the season but rank 22nd in pace entering Monday's games. Here's David Fizdale on why they've played slow (2/2): “So our pace is definitely slow since then but I'm still emphasizing it, getting it up the court. I think the most important thing for our team is being organized. And our pace suffered because of that. where we're getting where we're supposed to be, organized, and then we run what we're supposed to run. Yeah it's suffered some but that's part of the give and take of adjusting to what you have out there.”

The Knicks wanted to play fast entering the season but rank 22nd in pace entering Monday's games. Here's David Fizdale on why they've played slow (1/2). “I think a lot of it is I'm playing more two big basketball now. That's just – coaches got to adjust to the roster. And what you have at that time to give them the best chance to play good basketball. It all sounds great when you come in and you say I want to do this, I want to do that. But you gotta work with what you have right now. So my job right now is to try to take them and try to put them in the best scenario to give them a chance to win games and to have success and grow.”

New York ranks 20th in 3-pointers taken per 100 possessions and 28th in 3-point field goal percentage. David Fizdale was asked if, in a perfect world, he'd have more 3-point shooters on the roster. “Well yeah but right now, we're just getting Kevin (Knox) back. Courtney Lee's been out the whole year, he's one of our 3-point shooters. But we don't have that right now. We don't have a team loaded full of spread guys who can just shoot – where you're getting up 40 threes a night and doing all of that. That's the good part about it. We're all on the same page from the standpoint of look, this is who we have, we're going to coach them to their strengths and try to put the game together in a way that all of these guys can grow and get better.”
