Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington leads a 45-strong England swimming squad to compete at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October.

Adlington is named alongside world champions Liam Tancock and Gemma Spofforth, with the likes of Lizzie Simmonds, Fran Halsall and Hannah Miley, who enjoyed success at the European Championships in Budapest, all included in the squad.

Simon Burnett and Ross Davenport will be defending champions in Delhi - Burnett is the 100m freestyle champion and picked up a silver in the 200m freestyle behind team-mate Davenport.

But alongside the experienced members of the team Team England have named a number of young talent, and for the likes of Ryan Bennett, Anne Bochmann and Emma Saunders, it will be their first major international event.

England's swimmers returned from Melbourne four years ago with 22 medals, and England's team leader John Atkinson believes the 2010 can emulate that success.

"I'm delighted Commonwealth Games England has selected such an impressive contingent of athletes to represent England with 45 swimmers being one of the largest swimming teams in the modern era of the Games.

"It's a full strength England team with tremendous potential. To have so many Olympic and World Championship medallists competing for England will serve the team well as they enter their final preparations for Delhi in October."
