Nick Matthew regained world No. 1 spot after defeating Spain's Borja Golan in the final of the Hong Kong Open.

World champion Matthew enjoyed an 11-1 11-8 5-11 11-5 over Golan to claim his 27th career title.

Victory ensured the 33-year-old returned to world number one, a ranking he first held in 2010. Elsewhere, Nicol David claimed her ninth consecutive title in Hong Kong with an 11-7 11-7 12-10 triumph over Raneem El Weleily.
