Jamieson and Allen secure World Cup silvers

Michael Jamieson and Sophie Allen both claimed silver medals on the opening day of the 2013 World Cup meet in Moscow, landing Britain's first podium finishes of the series.

Jamieson finished second behind Viatcheslav Sinkevich in the 200 metres breaststroke final while Allen achieved the same in the women's 200m individual medley final.

Allen also finished fifth in the 100m breaststroke final, in which teenager Ruta Meilutyte set a new world record of one minute 2.36 seconds.

The series comprises of eight meets, with Moscow being the third after Eindhoven and Berlin. Further meets follow in Dubai, Doha, Singapore and Tokyo before the tournament closes in Beijing on November 14.
