Tebow released by PatriotsESPN staff August 31, 2013 « Live County Championship coverage | #TransferDeadlineDay »
Tim Tebow has been released by the New England Patriots, sources have told ESPN.
Tebow, who signed with the Patriots in June, struggled to find consistency throughout pre-season, never seriously threatening Ryan Mallett for the back-up job behind established first choice quarterback Tom Brady.
In his final pre-season game on Thursday night against the New York Giants, Tebow completed six of 11 passes for 91 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He also was sacked four times.
Asked after Thursday's game if he felt that performance improved his chances of making the team, Tebow said: "I'm not sure. I don't make those decisions."
