Yadi Molina, the recipient of the 2018 Roberto Clemente Award, on creating awareness of the work that still needs to be done in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria: "I hope this award raises awareness that there are many people in Puerto Rico who still need help. There are many houses without roofs. There are many people who lost their homes, there are many people without water. We still need a lot of help, and at Foundation 4 we are focused on getting that help. We are helping many people and doing many things, and I don't really like to talk about that or for people to find out, because that's not the idea. That's not why we do it. But we still need help to try to continue helping our people and people in need."

Yadi Molina talks to ESPN about his own managerial aspirations after seeing Alex Cora become the first Puerto Rican manager to lead a team to the World Series: "It's a win for all Puerto Rican people to see one of us manage a legendary team like Boston to a World Series, and also to see these young players triumph here in Colombia. It is a triumph for all Puerto Ricans. Baseball is changing. Baseball is offering new opportunities to younger managers, and that's really what I like about baseball, that doors do open. Alex was our GM at the WBC, and working with him and talking to him, all the success he's had comes from hard work, from his desire to learn. I'm very happy for Alex and it is something that motivates every Puerto Rican to keep moving forward, and in my case, it motivates me to make some decisions in the future to be a major league manager and try to follow in the footsteps of Alex Cora."

ESPN has learned that Yadier Molina will be the recipient of the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award from MLB. Yadi told ESPN that he felt "honored and proud" to receive an award named after ‘The Great One', especially after all the work his foundation has done in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico: "It really is a dream come true. Obviously we help others not thinking about getting awards, you bring aid because it comes from your heart, you want to help people because it comes from the heart, it's never about looking for awards. But I feel very happy that our team at Fundación 4 (Foundation 4) is being recognized. We are still working, bringing help to Puerto Rico and I'm really happy for that. I hope this award raises awareness that there are many people in Puerto Rico who still need help.

Report: Wainwright's deal with Cardinals on hold

Because Adam Wainwright's deal with the Cardinals contains a guaranteed salary that is more than a 20 percent cut from last season, it has been put on hold until after free agency.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

Here's one Hot Stove question answered early: The Cardinals just announced that they've reached an agreement on a one-year deal with veteran righty Adam Wainwright to remain in St. Louis for a 15th season. Wainwright ranks fifth in Cardinals history with 148 career victories.

With the Dodgers 10-6 win over the Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals are officially eliminated from playoff contention. It was still an extremely impressive showing by a team that was all but written off after being 8.5 games out of first place in the NL Central at the end of July.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

The Dodgers break up a 5-5 game with one run in the eighth and four in the ninth to beat the Giants 10-6 and clinch a wild-card spot. The Cardinals are eliminated and the Dodgers wait and see what happens tonight in Denver. If the Rockies lose, we head into Sunday with a dead heat in the NL West and red-hot rookie Walker Buehler starting for L.A.
