Yelich's 3-run homer helps Brewers past Cardinals, 8-4

Christian Yelich welcomed hard-throwing prospect Ryan Helsley to the big leagues with a three-run homer, his eighth against St. Louis this season, to help send the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-4 victory over the Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Welcome to the big leagues, Ryan Helsley, but apparently you weren't told about this Christian Yelich fellow. Yelich was the first batter Helsley faced in the majors and the 2018 MVP crushed a 91-mph fastball 427 feet for a three-run home run and an 8-0 lead -- that's eight in six games this season against St. Louis. DO NOT PITCH TO YELICH.

Boom! Christian Yelich has hit his third home of the night -- he now has seven home runs against the Cardinals in five games this season. The Cardinals are going to be having Christian Yelich nightmares tonight. (All eight of Yelich's home run this season have been at home.)

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Christian Yelich hits his sixth home run to cap a six-run second inning off Dakota Hudson for the Brewers. Yelich has owned the Cardinals so far in 2019: He homered in the first four games of the season against them and now this one, making it 5-for-5. In 16 games against the Cardinals last year, he hit six home runs and drove in 15 runs.

Ozuna, Cardinals power past Reds 9-5 for split in Mexico

Marcell Ozuna hit two home runs and Matt Carpenter connected for a tiebreaking drive in the seventh inning that sent the St. Louis Cardinals over the Cincinnati Reds 9-5 Sunday for a split of their two-game series in Mexico.

Dietrich, Reds beat Wainwright, Cardinals 5-2 in Mexico

Derek Dietrich hit a tiebreaking homer off Adam Wainwright in the seventh inning and added a two-run triple as the Cincinnati Reds won their fourth straight game, beating the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 Saturday night in the raucous Estadio de Beisbol de...

Well, so much for my video analysis skills. What (to me) looked like a pitch that hit Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager in the foot got him on the right hamstring. The club is calling it a contusion, and he'll be day-to-day. (As are we all.)

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

From the oddities department: The Cardinals' Harrison Bader has driven in two runs today the hard way -- twice he's been hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the last time someone had two run-scoring hit by pitches in the same game was April 16, 2005, when it happened to the Blue Jays' Reed Johnson.

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager exited today's game in St. Louis after getting hit in the foot by a pitch. Seager turned away from a Giovanny Gallegos slider that was bearing in on him, and the pitch appeared to get him on the top of the shoe. Seager stayed in to run the bases but was replaced in the bottom of the fourth.

Behind homers from Yadier Molina and Marcell Ozuna, the Cardinals broke open this one late and beat the Dodgers 7-2. St. Louis has won the first three of this four-game set, with the series finale set for tomorrow afternoon. Pitching, hitting, defense -- it's been nothing but good news for the Redbirds all week.
