Florida needed to make its second-round game against Michigan a relatively low-scoring affair to have a reasonable chance to win in Des Moines. The Gators accomplished that but still couldn't generate enough offense to overcome the Wolverines. Florida shot just 29 percent in the second half, including 3-of-14 from three. The Gators went a stretch of over five minutes late in the game without a point and fell 64-49. Michigan moves to the the Sweet 16 and the West Regional in Anaheim.

Credit to Florida for finding a way to hang around. The Gators trailed Michigan by as many as 15 points early in the second half but a 9-0 run kept the Gators in the game. Michigan is up 46-39 with less than 12 minutes left.

Three times now that Florida has fouled a Michigan three-point shooter. And we have almost 14 minutes to go.

Michigan went on a 7-0 run to start the second half and leads Florida 39-28. It's difficult to see the Gators generating enough offense to rally from a much-bigger deficit. Michigan's man-to-man defense has been smothering at times, as it was in the Wolverines' first-round win over Montana.

Florida had a tough time getting a good look inside the arc in the first half against Michigan. The Gators as a result took almost half of their 27 shots from three. Florida is staying with Michigan because the Gators are uncharacteristically shooting well from outside (6-of-12). The Gators trail 32-28 but they'll need to be more productive near the basket in the second half or continue to shoot unusually well from long range.

Florida entered today's second-round game against Michigan shooting just 33 percent from three but the Gators are staying in the game early because of their long-range shooting. The Gators are 4-of-7 on three-pointers, so their deficit is just 18-14 with less than 12 minutes left in the first half.

Nevada last season won two games in the NCAA tournament before losing by a point in the Sweet 16. The Wolf Pack's stay in the tournament this season will be much shorter. Nevada, the No. 7 seed in the West Regional, fell to 10th-seeded Florida 70-61 in the first round in Des Moines. Caleb Martin finished with 21 points for the Wolf Pack, but made just 5-of-22 shots. Florida will play the winner of the Michigan-Montana game on Saturday.

Nevada, which once trailed by as many as 18 points in the second half, is making some progress. The Wolf Pack, the seventh-seed in the West Regional, are down 58-46 with less than eight minutes left. It's hard to see Nevada getting much closer without more help from Caleb Martin, its leading scorer in the regular season. Martin has 10 points on 3-of-17 shooting. Martin averaged more than 19 points in the regular season.

Florida, a 42-percent shooting team in the regular season, is on fire in the second half in Des Moines against Nevada. The Gators are 5-of-7 in the early minutes after halftime to open up a 48-33 lead over the seventh-seeded Wolf Pack.

The Wolf Pack, the No. 7 seed in the West Regional, averaged almost 81 points per game in the regular season. Nevada's lowest-scoring game of the season is 56 points in its most recent game, a Mountain West Conference tournament loss to San Diego State. Nevada is shooting 45 percent but has nine turnovers.
