After all the drama, what's real and what's fake?

It was a wild week in college basketball, but we know this: The notion that UCLA is aiming too high is fake and that Virginia Tech is a serious ACC threat is real.

Pac-12 caps worst December in decades as 5 fall

With five losses on Saturday's schedule, the men's college basketball season went from bad to worse for the Pac-12, which is assured of the worst December by a major conference in the past 20 years.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

A terrible nonconference season for the Pac-12 continued with UCLA's double-digit home loss to Liberty (a -7.5 underdog) and Arizona State's home loss to Princeton. Saturday's result for UCLA was Steve Alford's sixth loss in nine games, a rocky stretch that will only magnify speculation about his job status. Arizona State's loss comes a week after the Sun Devils defeated former No. 1 Kansas. There are no highlights in this league. And it's not crazy to envision the Pac-12, a league that's failed to match preseason expectations, entering the NCAA tournament with just one representative.
