Best- and worst-case scenario for each Top 25 team

For some teams, a win in the NCAA tournament would be a significant achievement. For the elite contenders, anything short of a Final Four run would be a disappointment.

Mann: 'It was hard to' envision FSU in Elite Eight (0:41)
Florida State's depth, defense were instrumental in win (1:21)
Cofer: Junkyard defense is 'the culture' at FSU (0:48)

Florida State was the more active team and the more aggressive team tonight. The Seminoles' press was just too much for Gonzaga throughout the game and the Noles were so efficient in transition. FSU has beaten three straight higher seeds for the first time in school history. This is just FSU's third Elite Eight appearance in school history and the first since 1993.

And looks like the West regional final will be Florida State vs. Michigan, which hopefully will be as entertaining as their Orange Bowl matchup a couple years ago.

Edward Aschoff ESPN Staff Writer

Chants of "F-S-U" raining down here inside Staples Center. The Seminoles have all the momentum and have been incredibly active in the paint all night on both the offensive and defensive end. Length and the use of the press have really worn down this Gonzaga offense at times. Very similar to UNC Greensboro plan in the opening weekend.

A key factor through the first 28 minutes of the game: rim protection. Florida State has 8 blocks (3 by 6-foot-8 forward Mfiondu Kabengele), while Gonzaga has none.
