Teams on the outside looking in at Way-Too-Early Top 25

We're just not sold on UCLA or Indiana yet. Need to see more from Maryland and Cincinnati. They're among the men's basketball teams that didn't make the cut for the 2018-19 top 25.

Cincinnati's Jacob Evans, who worked out for the Lakers on Saturday, tries to pattern parts of his game off other Bearcats who played in the NBA. "I try to take a little bit from everybody," said the 6-6 Evans, who averaged 13 points , 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks last season. "They all are completely different. You got Kenyon Martin, who just brings the intensity, that nonstop, never quit aggression, that grit. You got DerMarr Johnson, who was highly-skilled when he came out. You got Lance [Stephenson], who just tries to get in your head and on the court tries to be able to do everything and you got Sean Kilpatrick also, he's a guy who works really hard and got to where he is now in the NBA and having that dog mentality of working hard every day."

Cincy blows 22-point lead, stunned by Nevada

Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin said his No. 2 Bearcats "got the deer-in-the-headlights look" Sunday, allowing Nevada to erase a 22-point deficit and pull off the second-largest comeback in NCAA tournament history.

Paul Sabin ESPN Analytics

After the Cincinnati loss and halfway though the first half against Kansas State, UMBC, a 16 seed is up to a 0.4% chance to reach the Final Four per BPI. Sounds impossible but the same team already overcame a 98.5% chance of losing its opening tournament game.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

Kentucky is now the favorite to reach the Final Four out of the South Region, with a 51% shot, per BPI.

Anything seems possible in this edition of the NCAA tournament. Nevada was down by 22 points against Cincinnati, a top-three defensive team all season. But Eric Musselman's squad closed the game on a 32-8 run, the most tremendous run of the NCAA tournament thus far. Wild times in college basketball.
