Kingman beat Toronado by a length to win the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Ridden by James Doyle, Kingman has enjoyed an impressive season, finishing second in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and winning the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot.

"He's got a gear and then he's got another gear," trainer John Gosden said of Kingman. "You can flick a button with him. He's improved, he's got wiser, cleverer, bigger and stronger.

"He's got great shoulders and a neck on him, he's one of those lovely athletes. He's three now, he looks as good as a four-year-old."
