McNamara suffers no brain injury

JT McNamara has not suffered any brain damage following his fall at the Cheltenham Festival.
The jockey remains in a stable condition at Frenchay Hospital after undergoing surgery to his C3 and C4 vertebrae, and it was confirmed on Thursday the 37-year-old Irish amateur had not encountered any damage to his brain after his fall from Galaxy Rock.
A joint statement released by Irish Turf Club senior medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick and Injured Jockeys Fund chief executive Lisa Hancock said: "JT McNamara remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol.
"He is in a stable condition and his level of sedation is being reduced. Whilst his vertebral damage remains serious, he has not suffered a brain injury.
"His wife Caroline and family very much appreciate all the messages, cards and letters that have been received. There will be no further update this week."
