Fallen For You showed her class with a brilliant success in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

A classy two-year-old last season, she looked to have her limitations exposed on the all-weather earlier in the year. But jockey William Buick had not lost faith, as he selected her over John Gosden's other runners, and it proved an astute move as she showed a fine turn of foot to land the Group One prize.

Buick elected to anchor his mount towards the rear of the field, as favourite Homecoming Queen set out to make all.

Homecoming Queen led turning for home and the 1000 Guineas victor looked primed to score as she kicked a length clear. But Buick was travelling with purpose and angled his filly out with two furlongs to run.

Once seeing daylight, she started to devour the ground and was in front with a furlong to run. She ran straight and true all the way to the line for an easy success. Capping a superb race for Gosden, his Starscope came home second - with Irish History third. Homecoming Queen folded tamely one headed and finished in rear.

Gosden said: "I always thought she was our best filly last year but I gave the wrong instructions in the Fillies' Mile.

"She was second in the May Hill and ran a bit green so I said be up there because the ground was riding fast and that was riding her back to front.

"Then she had a holiday and came back and I think she still had that in her mind as she was always too keen..

"She trained beautifully, worked well last Sunday morning, and we were ready for a big run. They went hard up front, there's a strong headwind and she was just sat there. She is classy, this is not a fluke."

Thomas Chippendale ran out a gritty winner of the King Edward VII Stakes. Sir Henry Cecil's charge responded superbly to Johnny Murtagh's urgings to pull the race out of the fire, having been headed by stablemate Noble Mission inside the final furlong.

Astrology was sent off the odds-on favourite but Aidan O'Brien's charge went out like a light once headed and he may well have still been feeling the big effort he put in when third in the Derby.

Newfangled started the day with a bang for Buick and Gosden as she produced a scintillating display to land the Albany Stakes. Gosden's fully came into the race with a lofty reputation, following a winning debut at Newmarket, and the daughter of New Approach propelled herself towards the top of the juvenile tree with a classy romp.

There was drama before the race as Sendmylovetorose got down in the stalls and had to be withdrawn, while Kosika refused to enter the stalls. The delay did not affect Newfangled who bounced out of the gate and tanked along.

She appeared to be running a little free for Buick, but it did not stop the well backed 7/4 favourite as she bounded clear inside the final two furlongs and was not extended to beat Agent Allison and Premier Steps in the Group Three prize.

Buick and Gosden made it three for the day when Gatewood justified favouritism in the Wolferton Handicap. Unlike Fallen For You and Newfangled, it was hard work as the 3/1 favourite ground his way to the front late on to beat Black Spirit and Mijhaar.

Royal Ascot threw its own Diamond Jubilee celebration as The Queen's Estimate powered to victory in the Queen's Vase. Ryan Moore kept Sir Michael Soute's charge close to the pace in the two-mile contest before engaging battle at the top of the straight. Estimate showed the greater turn of foot than Athens and powered clear in the final furlong.

The day's action concluded with the Buckingham Palace Stakes and it went the way of Eton Forever who sprinted clear of his group in the final furlong to score with real authority to hand trainer Roger Varian a first Royal Ascot winner.
