Saracens lead the way for European Player of the Season with three players featuring on the five-man shortlist.

The final five are dominated by the teams in the Heineken Cup final with Toulon making up the other two. Chris Ashton is named after a season which saw him break the record for the most tries scored in one European campaign with his tally currently sitting on 11.

Alongside Ashton in the list are his Saracens team-mates Schalk Brits and Jacques Burger, both of whom shone in Saturday's 46-6 win over Clermont at Twickenham.

Toulon's Jonny Wilkinson, the recipient of last year's award, also makes the cut with back-row Steffon Armitage also shortlisted.
