Alejandro Canizares led from start to finish as he ended an eight-year drought for a European Tour title with victory at the Trophee Hassan II.

Canizares stayed top of the leaderboard throughout the four days at Morroco's Golf du Palais Royal, opening with a 62 before closing out his win with a two-under-par final round of 68. The Spaniard had not won a tour title since claiming the Russian Open in 2006.

Despite Canizares' commanding victory, to which Seve Benson played second fiddle for the best part of three days, there were positives from the British contingent with six of the top ten coming from England.

Andy Sullivan saved his best round until last, carding a superb nine-under 63 to clinch second spot, five shots off Canizares' lead of 19-under.

Benson finished a further two shots back on 12-under and tied for third with Magnus A Carlsson of Sweden.

Richard Bland finished with a four-under 66 to sit alongside Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Wade Ormsby in joint fifth. English trio Tom Lewis, David Horsey and Paul Waring completed the top ten placings nine shots off the lead.
