Sergio delighted with Qatar win

Sergio Garcia is back into the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in a little more than four years after winning the Qatar Masters.

Garcia's dramatic play-off win over Mikko Ilonen in Doha saw him jump two spots to No. 9, his highest placement since he was eight in the world in November 2009.

Still in search of his first career major win, the Spaniard was ranked as high as No. 2 after winning the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2008, but never reached top spot.

Prior to this week, Garcia spent a combined 318 weeks in the world's top 10. The 34-year-old now owns 11 European Tour wins as well as 18 top-10s in 61 career majors as a pro and amateur.

In recent years, a dip in form had seen Garcia drop as low as 85th in the world in March 2011. He is currently third on the world points list for the European Ryder Cup team after his victory and is second in the Race to Dubai.

Scott Stallings, the winner on Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, jumped from 112th in the world to 53rd, likely earning him a spot in the WGC-Match Play Championship in February.

The top 64 in the OWGR make the field and cutoff is February 10, the day after the end of AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
