Simon Dyson moved within contention of a fourth KLM Open title after equalling his course record with a second round 63, leaving him one shot behind joint leaders Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal at eight-under par.

Dyson carded seven birdies during a flawless second visit at Kennemer G&CC in Zandvoort and has not dropped a shot since a double bogey on the first hole of his opening round.

"I've done well in previous years and played well around it today," Dyson said. "I played really solid apart from the last two holes and never looked like making bogey.

"I hit a poor tee shot on the eighth, which was my 17th, and the lie determined the shot I had to play. I had quite a lot of room to pitch it on the green but had a terrible lie so had to play a little bump and run, a proper links shot, and managed to play it well.

"On the last I didn't quite strike the chip as I wanted to but it was nice to roll the putt in and have a bogey-free round."

Jimenez and Larrazabal lead the field at nine-under after carding second rounds of 67 and 66 respectively, while Julien Quesnie and Oliver Fisher both shot a round of 65 to move to eight-under overall.

Paul Casey recorded a one-over round of 71 to sit below the cut line and is joined by Padraig Harrington, whose score of 69 was not enough to see him into the weekend action.

Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley is four shots off the lead after a three-under round of 67, although it would have been better if not for a solitary bogey at the 13th hole.

Elsewhere, Jorge Campillo also equalled Dyson's record with a seven-under 63. He sits at six-under, along with Joost Luiten, Matthew Nixon and Anthony Snobeck.
