Ali Williams keen to stay in Toulon
Lynn McConnell
December 13, 2013

Ali Williams seems likely to extend his stay in French club rugby at Toulon, the former All Blacks and Blues lock telling Midi Olympique that he has almost reached an agreement with the club currently equal second in France's Top 14 competition.

"I love it here," Williams said. "This is completely different from what I knew in New Zealand. I never left my country. The people here are magical. I feel that there is a real connection and I want to stay.

Williams said he had to adjust to a new system and a new way of thinking when he joined Toulon, and he had taken time to make the adjustment.

Toulon face an important Heineken Cup match at home to Exeter at the weekend, and Williams says the team is improving each week.

"We had a very good defence and that is a very good sign," he said. "It shows we are growing together. However, this weekend we will have to be even more effective. But we are enjoying what we are doing and are understanding our roles better and better.

"In rugby it's really a long process, week by week, and we must constantly challenge ourselves. We are trying to work out the details and when it succeeds, the public will see a big difference."
