Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani will make the trip to the United States for Uruguay's Sept. 7 friendly against Mexico.
Suarez, Uruguay's all-time leading scorer at 53 goals, netted two scores at the World Cup in Russia. The Barcelona striker has faced some criticism for his dip in form for the club stretching to last season.
Cavani had a strong performance in Russia, scoring twice against Portugal in the Round of 16 before a hamstring injury ended the Paris Saint-Germain star's tournament. Uruguay lost to eventual champion France in the quarterfinals.
Other World Cup players heading to Houston include Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin and Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
Fabian Coito will serve as interim manager for the Celeste as longtime boss Oscar Tabarez reportedly mulls his future.
Mexico has yet to name their team.
