Liverpool have not approached AC Milan about a move for Mario Balotelli, according to the Serie A club's CEO Adriano Galliani.

Balotelli, 24, has regularly been linked with a return to the Premier League since leaving Manchester City for Milan in January 2013.

Recent reports have suggested Liverpool, who are still looking to fill the attacking void left by Luis Suarez's departure, have contacted the seven-time European champions about a potential £17.5 million transfer.

However, Galliani, insists that no bid has been lodged by Liverpool although he did hint that the situation could change before the end of the transfer window.

"At the moment there has been no offer from Liverpool from Balotelli, so there are no negotiations," Galliani told Italian news agency Ansa.

"But the transfer market finishes on September 1, so we'll see."
