Marouane Fellaini has been pictured heading into hospital with his foot in a protective boot - hampering his chances of securing a move away from Manchester United.

A photograph in The Sun shows the midfielder arriving at Bridgwater hospital on crutches having picked up an injury during training.

Fellaini has been heavily linked with a loan move to Napoli as new United manager Louis van Gaal reportedly wants to offload the Belgian.

Fellaini joined from Everton at the end of last summer's transfer window for £27.5 million but struggled in his first season at Old Trafford under his former Everton manager David Moyes - failing to score a goal and suffering a long-term wrist injury.

The Sun adds that selling Fellaini could be delayed until January as "his hopes of passing a medical now look slim".
