Postive reaction a plus for Mourinho

Jose Mourinho admits he does not want goalkeeper Petr Cech to leave Chelsea and has backed him to battle for the No.1 jersey with Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois played in Chelsea's first Premier League match of the season in a 3-1 win at Burnley, suggesting the 22-year-old Belgian will be Mourinho's first choice for the rest of the campaign.

Courtois returned to the club after spending a three-year spell at Atletico Madrid - where he won La Liga last season and reached the final of the Champions League.

"Petr Cech was disappointed but football is sometimes like this, players can often be unhappy and be unhappy with managers," Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"But between the group of players and their mates they have to be supportive."

Cech has been Chelsea's No.1 since then-manager Claudio Ranieri signed him from Rennes in 2004.

But with Courtois getting the nod, Mourinho says he does not want Cech to leave Stamford Bridge in order to find first-team football.

"I hope he doesn't want to go and I hope he doesn't have offers to go and if he does have offers he refuses to go," Mourinho added.

"I would be delighted to have two of the best goalkeepers in the world in my squad."
