Crystal Palace have completed the signing of former Fulham captain Brede Hangeland on a one-year deal.

He joins a Palace side that made a dramatic improvement in form after Tony Pulis had taken over as manager in November and ended up surviving comfortably in the Premier League.

Hangeland told the club's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted. All the things I've heard about this club: the manager, the players, the staff; it's all been good things.

"I'm delighted to be here. I look forward to helping out and doing the best I can for this club. I'm quite old school as a player. I just want to be part of a good group of players, working for a good manager.

"All the people I spoke to told me that's what is going on at Crystal Palace, and I really wanted to be a part of that."

Hangeland, 33, left Fulham after six-and-a-half years at Craven Cottage when the club decided not to offer him a new deal following their relegation last season. He made more than 200 appearances for the club, but claimed he was informed of his release by email.
