Arsenal transfer rumours

Arsene Wenger has revealed he is looking to bring in more new players to Arsenal - but the manager kept quiet on the club being heavily linked with Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

Arsenal began their pre-season schedule with a 2-0 victory at Boreham Wood, and speaking after the game Wenger said he is planning to add to his squad having signed Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy so far for a combined total of £44 million.

Arsenal have been linked with Khedira throughout the summer, but while reports suggested a fee had been agreed with wages proving to be a stumbling block, Khedira's agent insisted the German was not in talks with the club on a move to the Emirates.

When asked whether a move for Khedira would happen, Wenger said: "Look, I can't give you any names.

"What is good is that [Arsenal's German internationals] won the World Cup so their confidence should be stronger. Winning makes you only stronger and more confident and hopefully we'll benefit from that next season."

Khedira has entered the final year of his contract at Madrid and reports in Spain say the 27-year-old is not interested in signing a new deal at the Bernabeu.

"You're never sure if you can do what you want, but we're still out there to strengthen our squad," Wenger added, who confirmed he will bring in a new goalkeeper following Lukasz Fabianski's departure to Swansea.

"I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure," he said.
