Toni Kroos has completed his move to Real Madrid after joining the European champions from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £24 million.

The 24 year old had turned down Bayern's offer of a new contract beyond 2015 and was unveiled as a Madrid player on Thursday in front of 8,000 fans at the Bernabeu.

Podolski in Cologne return claim

  • Lukas Podolski has reportedly said that leaving Arsenal for hometown-club Cologne would make him happier than winning the World Cup did.
  • Podolski, who was an unused substitute in Germany's triumph in Brazil last Sunday, was given a hero's welcome when he returned to Cologne to sign his name in the city's golden book on Wednesday.

Kroos was presented with the No.8 shirt and is confident he will have no problems fitting into his new club.

"I know that at this club you are expected to win trophies but I'm the right man for that because I'm used to winning," he said.

"I know this is the correct decision and I'm very proud to have made it. I cannot think of anything more wonderful than being here. This is the biggest club in the world.

"In 2013 I won the Champions League and in 2014 Real won it, and I hope we can win it again next year. I hope to be able to return the confidence this club has shown in me."

Kroos played every minute of Germany's triumphant World Cup campaign, and was a long-time target for Manchester United. He met with his agent in Mallorca immediately after his return from the World Cup and a deal was then struck with Real.

The midfielder has signed a six-year deal in the Spanish capital, where he joins compatriot Sami Khedira. The two world champions might not get to play in the same team, however, with Khedira linked with a move to Arsenal or Chelsea, where he would be reunited with former Real player Mesut Ozil.

Kroos spent the 18 months on loan at Bayer Leverkusen up to June 2010, making 48 appearances for them and scoring 10 goals.

Since returning to Bayern, he has played 205 times in four seasons, scoring 24 goals and winning the Bundesliga three times, the German Cup three times, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
