Fernando Torres has rejected the chance to join Inter Milan and is determined to prove himself at Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Torres and fellow Chelsea strikers Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o were criticised by manager Jose Mourinho last season for their lack of goals.

Mourinho even played midfielder Andre Schurrle up front in the Champions League quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain in an attempt to fix the striker crisis.

With Chelsea closing in on the signing of Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa for £35 million, the Daily Mail reports that Torres will fight for his place at the club and turn down a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Torres has been named in Spain's final World Cup squad despite scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances during the previous campaign. He was on target for his country in the 2-0 victory over Bolivia on Friday.

Since his £50m move from Liverpool in January 2011, Torres has only scored 45 goals. The Spaniard earlier this week claimed the team's tactics have hurt him and has admitted he is looking to return to top form.
