Jose Mourinho has revealed he wants his captain John Terry to remain at the club and end his career at Stamford Bridge.

Terry continued his outstanding form in defence this season for Chelsea with an eighth successive clean sheet at home in all competitions as they returned to the top of the Premier League following a 3-0 win over Stoke, a result which brought an end to two defeats in the week after Chelsea suffered losses at Crystal Palace and Paris Saint-Germain.

Terry's contract expires in June, and Mourinho is confident that the 33-year-old will sign a new deal.

"The manager wants him to stay; the club know I want him to stay, the club want him to stay, he wants to stay, so normally he is staying," Mourinho said.

Chelsea have reportedly offered Terry a one-year extension with reduced wages, but it is believed Terry is demanding more.

While Mourinho has made his position clear over Terry, the manager insists he has no input in negotiations between the club and player.

"The only idea I have is that the manager wants him to stay but the contracts are between the player and the club, I never have any involvement in this. They will find the right moment," he said.

Another player who will be out of contract in the summer is Frank Lampard, and after scoring his 250th career goal in the win against Stoke says he has a few more years left in him.

"I am enjoying playing my football, I am loving it and seeing the development of the new squad and you become an older hand and help them, I am enjoying the role," the 35-year-old told Sky Sports.

"I have always said I want to play for another two or three years, at the minute and as long as I am fit and feeling fresh I will do that."
