Brendan Rodgers has made one change from the team that won 3-0 at Manchester United last weekend, as in-form Raheem Sterling is dropped to the bench for Saturday's trip to Cardiff, with Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho preferred.

Cardiff starting XI: Marshall; Fabio, Theophile-Catherine, Caulker, Cala, John; Medel, Kim, Mutch; Bellamy, Campbell Substitutes: Lewis; Turner, Whittingham, Jones, Gunnarsson, Daehli, Zaha

Liverpool starting XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Flanagan, Agger, Skrtel, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge Substitutes: Jones, Sakho, Cissokho, Lucas, Moses, Sterling, Aspas

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, meanwhile, has opted for Alvaro Negredo over Edin Dzeko up front against bottom-side Fulham, with Sergio Aguero still missing through injury.

Negredo will be supported by Samir Nasri and David Silva as City look to close the gap on leaders Chelsea, who routed Arsenal earlier in the day.

Manchester City starting XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Lescott, Demichelis, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Toure, Milner, Nasri, Silva, Negredo Substitutes: Pantilimon, Boyata, Clichy, Rodwell, Navas, Garcia, Jovetic

Fulham starting XI: Stockdale; Heitinga, Hangeland, Amorebieta, Riise; Kacaniklic, Riether, Kvist, Sidwell, Richardson; Woodrow Substitutes: Zverotic, Karagounis, Kasami, Holtby, Roberts, Bent
