Everton are keen to tie down Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park and have opened talks with the defender over an improved deal, according to The Sun.

Coleman attracted the interest of Manchester United and former boss David Moyes and currently has four-and-a-half years left on his current contract.

However, Everton do not want to give the likes of United any hope of signing one of their star players - much like they did with Leighton Baines - and have begun talks over an extended contract.

The newspaper claims that initial talks between player and club started last week, although a new deal could be resolved in the summer.
