Goodbye Cabaye?

Borussia Moenchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong is on his way to Newcastle for his medical ahead of a potential switch to Tyneside, Borussia Moenchengladbach announced on Tuesday morning.

De Jong, 23, joined Borussia Moenchengladbach from FC Twente for €12 million in the summer of 2012, but has failed to impress.

Throughout the transfer period, De Jong has been linked with a move to Newcastle, and on Tuesday morning Borussia Moenchenglabach announced that de Jong has left Germany for his medical.

De Jong has been used 13 times as a substitute for Moenchengladbach, and warmed up for 45 minutes during their 2-0 defeat at home to Bayern last Friday.

In the past few weeks, Moenchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has vowed not to let de Jong leave before they have lined up a replacement. They have also been linked with Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse in a swap move.
