Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has played down fears over his knee injury by insisting he will return in a "few weeks".

Lucas picked up the knock in a challenge with Fabian Delph 20 minutes after coming off the bench in Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa, leaving the ground on crutches and later tweeting: "It is in God's hands".

He told manager Brendan Rodgers he had heard a 'click', damaging the medical collateral ligament in his right knee, and expected to be out for two months.

However he took to Twitter again to allay concerns.

Rodgers had reportedly been looking at a loan move for AC Milan's Nigel De Jong as cover for Lucas.
