Manchester United manager David Moyes has been fined £8,000 by the FA following comments he made after his side's defeat to Sunderland.

On Wednesday, Moyes accepted an FA charge of misconduct following comments he made in reference to officials after United's League Cup semi-final first leg defeat at the Stadium of Light and requested a non-personal hearing.

The Scot had said claimed that the Premier League champions were "playing referees as well as the opposition."

A statement on the FA's official website read: "Manchester United manager David Moyes has been fined £8,000 and warned as to his future conduct following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today.

"Moyes had admitted an FA misconduct charge in that his post-match comments following his side's game at Sunderland on Tuesday 7 January 2014 constituted improper conduct in that they called into question the integrity of the match officials appointed to that fixture and/or appointed to Manchester United fixtures generally, and/or implied that such match officials are motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute, in contravention of FA Rule E3(1)."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Stoke boss Mark Hughes have all accepted FA misconduct charges this season and have each been fined the same amount of £8,000.
