Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed Leigh Griffiths' goal celebration during their 2-0 win over Tranmere was in memory of a family member and nothing to do with television show Family Guy.

Griffiths scored the opening goal during Tuesday's League One tie at Molineux, before lifting his shirt to reveal the message "RIP BRIAN" written on a vest underneath.

However, after the game, the club clarified the message was in tribute to a relative and not to mark the death of Brian the dog in the popular American show.
