Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Netherlands' upcoming international friendlies due to his ongoing groin and toe problems.

Louis van Gaal's side play Japan on Saturday and Colombia three days later.

And reports coming out of the Dutch camp suggest that, although he played the full 90 minutes for Manchester United against Arsenal this weekend, there is concern of overload which could aggravate his injuries.

The 30-year-old, who has been playing through the pain for his club in recent weeks, will welcome the two week break - with United not due to play again until they visit Cardiff City on November 24.
