Reports linking Robert Lewandowski with a move to the Premier League are wide of the mark, a source has told ESPN, with the striker preferring to stay in the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski, 25, will be a free agent at the end of this season after failing to agree an extension to his deal with Borussia Dortmund following interest from Bayern Munich.

However, the Poland international is quoted in The Telegraph as saying: "One day I would like to play in Premier League. It would be a great experience."

Lewandowski was also quoted as saying that he had "never said that I will sign a contract with Bayern," sparking speculation about a last-minute swoop by a Premier League club.

But a source close to the player told ESPN that Lewandowski would prefer to stay in Germany and believes the Bundesliga is at least on the same level as the Premier League.
