Andros Townsend has been given his first senior England start by manager Roy Hodgson against Montenegro at Wembley.

Townsend was handed a shock start after the earlier withdrawal of Tom Cleverley, who was ruled out due to a calf injury.

Steven Gerrard's inclusion means he will equal Sir Bobby Charlton's haul of 106 caps for his nation. Jack Wilshere has to settle for a place on the bench.

England: Hart, Walker Jagielka, Cahill, Baines, Gerrard Lampard, Townsend, Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge

Subs: Ruddy, Forster, Smalling, Gibbs, Jones, Carrick, Milner, Barkley, Wilshere, Defoe, Lambert
