Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine has been jailed for 18 months after being charged with two separate assaults on fans in nightclubs.
Madine, 23, attacked Daniel Beresford in Sheffield's Paris bar in February 2012, knocking him unconscious and breaking his nose.
Four weeks later, he hit Sheffield United fan Reece Hall in the Viper Rooms, breaking his jaw and fracturing his cheek in five places.
Leeds Crown Court found Madine guilty of causing Mr Beresford actual bodily harm and Mr Hall grievous bodily harm.
Mr Beresford said Madine had been staring at him in the bar and, when he had asked why, the player hit him.
"He was one of my favourite players, someone I looked up to," he told reporters.
