Tottenham have completed the signing of centre-back Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest.

Chiriches, 23, reinforces the Spurs defence following the departures of William Gallas and Steven Caulker over the summer.

After sealing his reported £8.5 million move, Chiriches spoke of his delight at completing the switch to White Hart Lane.

He said: "For me, this is something incredible. A dream come true," he said.

Speaking after Thursday's 3-0 victory over Dinamo Tblisi, Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas had spoken highly of Chiriches.

"He is an interesting player that has been followed by lots of teams," Villas-Boas said. "He has tremendous qualities coming out with the ball and that's what we like in our defenders. He is a great leader."

Tottenham are also set to announce the signings of Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen after they underwent medicals along with Chiriches on Thursday.
