A leading bookmaker closed its book on Luis Suarez leaving Liverpool for Arsenal following a flurry wagers on the Uruguayan making the move to the Emirates.

Suarez is developing into one of the leading transfer sagas of the summer after confirming his desire to move on from Liverpool.

His comments have been made while on international duty in South America and the Reds have maintained there has been no direct word from the forward on his future.

Real Madrid have been the side strongly linked with Suarez, and Los Blancos' president Florentino Perez has spoken about the player in glowing terms.

Suarez has had a troubled time at Liverpool on account of disciplinary problems and he has claimed the media have made life difficult for him. Such comments suggested any transfer would see the forward leave England, but a fresh twist came on Wednesday when bookmaker William Hill stopped taking bets on a move to Arsenal.

A series of bets in Spain on Suarez moving to Arsenal forced William Hill to close the market.

And speaking to the Sun, spokesman Rupert Adams said: "It would suggest they have heard something substantial."
