Iago Aspas has spoken of his excitement about his move to Liverpool, with the striker's £7.7 million transfer expected to be completed in the coming days.

The 25-year-old Celta Vigo forward underwent a medical at the club's Melwood training ground on Tuesday. He returned to Spain on Wednesday evening, with some reports suggesting the deal had met a hitch, but Aspas and his brother ironed out the issues prior to returning to Vigo.

"There should be no problems," Jonathan Aspas, the player's brother and agent, told Radio Galega.

Asked about the prospect of joining Liverpool, the player said: "I'm excited, but I prefer not to say anything until it becomes an official agreement between the clubs."

Liverpool agreed a fee with Celta Vigo at the end of May, but the transfer was held up by a number of administrative issues - one of which being that the striker was due a bonus payment from Celta after helping them to avoid relegation from the Spanish top flight on the final day of the season.

Aspas, who can play as a main forward, a second striker or out wide, broke into Celta Vigo's first team in 2008, having graduated from their youth set-up.

The forward scored 12 goals for Celta in the first campaign back in the Primera Liga after five years in the second tier, and was reportedly a target for Valencia and Swansea, as well as teams in Portugal and Italy.

Celta are confident the deal will go through, with club president Carlos Mourino vowing to reinvest the money in the playing squad.

"We will do very well," Mourino told Faro De Vigo about next season. "The budget will not increase significantly, but we will have extra money from the sale of Iago to Livepool. We know we need to buy players and there will be money to spend."
