West Ham Negredo bid rejected
Sevilla have rejected a bid from West Ham for Alvaro Negredo, according to club president Jose Maria del Nido.
Negredo, 27, has been linked with a move away with his agent talking up a deal to join Napoli. However, Del Nido has discouraged clubs from making bids for the striker after revealing a bid from the Premier League side was rejected out of hand.
"He has four years left on his contract," he said at a press conference. "He is at home here. He has scored a lot of goals and delighted us with his football.
"The summer will tell us in due course if he will still be with us, but if you ask my opinion I'd rather there were no bids. West Ham offered 17 million in cash with more in incentives but we do not value the offer and the player refused."
Sevilla have agreed a deal to sell Jesus Navas to Manchester City, something which Del Nido thinks represented good business for the club because of the winger's desire to move on and City's willingness to pay a large fee.
"I think this is a great deal for both parties," he said. "The player had said personally to us and then publicly to the media that he wanted to leave. He believed his time in Sevilla was over having contributed all that he could.
"The price at which we have sold Jesus Navas is an amount much higher than we thought they were going to offer, especially as there was only one bidder."
Sevilla were believed to be vulnerable to losing their prized assets due to an obligation to repay debts, but Del Nido says that they have commanded for Navas ensures that only similarly high bids will see more players sold.
"We do not yet know the final figure [for Navas] as there are many variables and incentives in the deal," he added. "But we have no need to sell as this has covered our budget deficit.
"In the past we have been willing to sell a player if the market value is offered, but so far all the offers that have come in have been rejected."
