Chelsea have confirmed that club captain John Terry will play no part in the two-match tour of the USA as a result of an ankle injury.

The Blues are due to face Manchester City at the Busch Stadium in St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday and then face the same opponents at Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday.

However, Terry, who sustained an ankle injury during the victory over Aston Villa on May 11, will play no part, with Frank Lampard again captaining the squad. Ryan Bertrand, struggling with a knee problem, is also unavailable, but Eden Hazard was on Monday's flight.

Academy players Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are part of the 23-man squad.
