Madejski lays into QPR spending
Reading chairman John Madejski has stoked the fires ahead of Sunday's game with QPR by claiming the way they are run is not sustainable for success in the long-term.
The two sides are propping up the Premier League and look certain to be relegated but QPR have become synonymous with spending while Reading have been notable for their prudence.
And Madejski, who sold the club to Anton Zingarevich last year, was critical of Rangers' laissez-faire attitude to spending which goes against the way he has run Reading for the last two decades.
"We've built this club brick by brick and we haven't gone for a quick fix," Madejski said. "QPR have got all the hallmarks of quick fix or allegedly quick fix.
"Over the years I have come to realise that [spending lots of money on] players doesn't always work out. You've got a 50/50 chance of them working out when they come to a club and, when you're paying a lot of money, it can be quite an expensive pastime."
