Manchester City's hopes of repeating their 2011 FA Cup triumph were handed a boost after they were drawn at home to Championship side Barnsley in this year's quarter-finals, while Manchester United and Chelsea are on course to meet in the last eight.

Reigning Premier League champions City beat Leeds United 4-0 in the fifth round to progress, while Barnsley - who reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 2008 - saw off MK Dons.

A potential clash between Chelsea and United also awaits, though they must first see off the challenge of Reading and Middlesbrough respectively. Should Sir Alex Ferguson's side progress they will play their quarter-final at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, there will be at least one Championship side playing in the semi-finals at Wembley as Millwall play host to Blackburn Rovers, while Wigan Athletic will face the winner of the replay between Everton and League One surprise package Oldham.

FA Cup quarter-final draw:
Manchester United or Reading v Middlesbrough or Chelsea
Oldham or Everton v Wigan
Manchester City v Barnsley
Millwall v Blackburn

Matches will be played the weekend of March 9.
